The bases of these glasses are made from engineer-grade, silk-screened signage - the type of signage that was popular before the 3M Scotchlite coatings became the industry standard.  These older, retro coatings are more forgiving and allow me to bend the base-piece giving it an inverted cup shape.  The nuts & bolt that form the stem of the glass are anodized steel -with use, these develop a great patina, contrasting nicely with the bright stainless steel cup.  I’ve intensively tested these glasses (martini-curls in the 1000’s) and find they are not only fun conversation pieces, but they are fun to use - when filled with frozen, or very cold drinks, the upper portion of the metal cup can become icy on the outside and a frosty mist will descend down the stem and across the base.  They’re also great to use around pools where glass is prohibited.
