This license plate fish was made for a very good client who wanted one of his old plates made into art. Measuring 15.5" x 9," this piece is equally at home indoors or out, but preferably in Miami! To make this fish, Tripp used three different types of signs to augment the colors of the license plate, and also reversed the typical left-swimming pattern.

James

James is part of a private collection. Note the heavily weathered 1981 North Carolina License Plate, and the Dorsal fin with the registered trademark symbol.

Popper

Popper was made for a special client's son in Florida who has a 1969 Firebird convertible that he purchased in Florida...note the "69" gill fin...It was fashioned from the date on the lower corner of the license plate.

Crusty

This Blue Crab sculpture was made using a license plate that my client found in the Florida Keys. The plate had been underwater long enough to shed its reflective coating and collect a thin layer of barnacles. To mimic the weathered nature of the license plate, Tripp used distressed signage for the appendages.

Dugan

Dugan is part of a private collection. He is made from a new Arizona plate (note the absence of renewal stickers) and is probably the most brightly colored license plate fish Tripp has ever made.

Magnum

Magnum was made especially for a client in New York who specifically wanted a crab from a vintage New York license plate.

Loreen

Loreen was made for clients who wanted a Maine lobster to go with a Maryland crab that they already owned.
